Hello again! Candace here to share Week 5 of my Project Life album for 2017. This week is all about the stories and words. This year my focus in all my memory keeping is to tell more of our family’s stories. Every time I sit to scrapbook I want to think first about the story and second about the products and embellishments. I want the stories to drive my design and not leave the stories to fit into what is left after I design.
With stories in mind I first laid out my photos and considered the stories that I wanted to tell this week. I also considered the stories I wanted to tell that I did not have pictures for. For example, I considered any quotes that I wanted to include or moments of gratitude that I would express.
Next, I opened my digital journal cards and first looked for cards to add my journaling. I knew I only had one space for a 4×6 card so I looked for that card first. Looked for a card with multiple colors that I could build my spread from.
I added my journaling to the 4×6 card then looked for 3×4 journaling cards. When I considered 3×4 cards I did not worry about color because I knew I was going to re-color the cards based on the color palate of the 4×6 card. I only looked for lots of journaling space to add my family’s stories for this week.
After adding all my journaling and stories to the 3×4 cards I could start filling in the extra spaces with filler cards. I knew I wanted a circle design on the left side of the spread so I re-colored a 4×6 card from another collection to match the spread.
Finally, I looked across the whole spread and used embellishments to balance the colors across the spread.
I made sure to repeat these embellishments across the entire spread to add consistency and balance.
I also considered balance in dimension of embellishments. The left side of the spread was looking a little flat compared to the right side so I decided to add more dimension to the journal card. I cut the “Happy Mind Happy Life” card 2x then popped up the sentiment with foam squares.
I love the final spread. I love the balance of color, dimension, and embellishments. Most of all I love the words. I love the moments and memories captured. I know that years from now when my memory of this time begins to fade I will be so grateful for the words, stories, and details. Give this a try on your next spread.
Have a beautiful day & go out and make memories!
This is me. I am a wife, a mother, a sister, a daughter and a friend. My days are filled with cleaning dishes, driving kids to practice, kissing boo boos, singing nursery songs, calling a friend, folding mounds of laundry, cleaning the dishes AGAIN, washing tushies and toes, tucking little ones in bed, and then doing it all again. But in this crazy, busy and the wonderful life there is everyday perfection. Moments where time seems to stop, you take a picture in your mind, and promise yourself you will never forget. Everyday perfection. It is my hope that I can inspire others to notice those moments of everyday perfection, capture them and cherish them.
